Thoughtful gifts

Thoughtful and unexpected gifts are the best. The type of gifts that have a hidden meaning or story behind them.

Globe: Eddy gave me globe that looks similar to the old globe I use to have when I was kid. Back in the day, I was obsessed with spinning the globe, closing my eyes, and randomly pointing my finger on the globe to stop it from spinning. I would do this almost everyday to learn about random cities around the world. Thanks EDDY!!!! weeeeee!!!

skip it: Shreyas surprised me with a skip it! I couldn't stop laughing when I opened the package. I always wanted one when I was a kid. One of my neighbors had a skip it and I asked her one day if I could use it for a couple of minutes.  She refused and only let me jump over the counter ball when she used it. I was crushed. Thanks Shreyas for taking the effort of ordering the skip it despite the fact that it is an out of season toy. Still need to hear your Indian accent though. That would really make me day :).

papasan chair: Mari and Yesua got me a papasan chair. In one of the corners of my room, I wanted a comfy chair to read on. My own personal reading nook. Now I'm excited to start reading in a bowl!!  I love you guys.

thank you everyone, esp. the people that came up from san diego, for making my bday and valentines day special!!! I  love you guys very much.

Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th was quite eventful. You can read Mari's blog for more details. Mari and Yesua bought me a papasan chair for my bday. It's beautiiiifullllll. And for your information, a papasan chair frame CAN fit in a honda civic.

As you can see in one of the pictures, I am riding a "rocking PANDA"in Cost Plus. Doesn't that blow your mind! I was extremely tempted in buying it.

Crabbys and Peas

In early february, I went to the Grove to watch "He's just not that into you" and came across a painting of the happiest crab I have ever seen. I found this cute sea critter on one of the walls in farmers market. What an adorable oxymoron. While killing time before the movie starts, I started reading a children's book called The Little Pea. This image of two peas swinging made me bust out laughing. As you can see, the depressed pea is shaped oddly ( more so as a square) and the happy pea is shaped perfectly round.  Best drawing of the week. However, the plot of the book was extremely weak. According to the story, little growing peas hate eating candy and love eating spinach. ABSURD.

Happy Chinese New Years!!!

One of my kids in class gave me a red envelope for Chinese New Years. She put in two dollars (assuming from her allowance). As you can see she spelled my name wrong. I don't mind though, how she spelled it looks slightly better. =)

HAPPY LATE CHINESE NEW YEARS !!!

Mondrian Madness

These condos are in Playa Vista near where Mari and Yesua live. The design of the buildings are inspired from Mondrian's paintings. Absolutely stunning.

El Pueblo Fieldtrip

In early January, I chaperoned my third grade class to El Pueblo Downtown. We learned about the early settlers of Los Angeles. Unfortunately, it started to pour so the fieldtrip had to end early. On the way back, one of my kids asked me what will we being doing for the rest of the day when we get back to school. I told them that it should be art time. The students started to whine. Highlight of the trip was one of girl's responses to the students' complaints. In her sweet gentle voice, Laura says..." What's wrong with art? I love art...you can never mess up... like in life....life is like art." This is one of the most profound and inspiring statement I have heard in awhile. Couldn't help but smile. =)

Working on my faith and flexibility

I am officially a part time West LA College student. I enrolled in a 18 week yoga class for only 52 dollars ! Maybe this will motivate me to workout and get my bahhhddy back. All I need to do now is buy a yoga mat!

possible interesting fact of the day: This is a followup from the last interesting fact of the day: pythons use to have legs. That is why in paintings from the Renaissance, serpents such as pythons are depicted with legs.

It's already the middle of the month and I haven't done some serious studying for DATs yet so I have to kick in high gear this week. One another note, my spirituality has been weak for the past year and I am searching for a church to attend on Sundays. I attended OASIS. The service was lovely, but I was extremely overwhelmed with the size of the congregation and flashy song performances. I feel more comfortable among a smaller congregation and more intimate atmosphere. If there are any churches you guys recommend, let me know =).

Casino and Coreans

I smell like the casino...I smell of asians, debt, booze, and cigarettes... My highlight of the night, I won 40 dollars from a one cent machine. I swear I screamed like a mad woman when I won the 3000 point bonus. I guess I'm a sucker for the lights and sound effects.

Amazing fact of the day: Pythons use to have legs.

Lately I have been watching depressing korean music videos. So if you are looking for a few tear jerkers, I recommend Lee Soo Young videos. Strangely, these sappy love videos comforts and soothes my anxieties.

I am no longer a BLOG VIRGIN

I decided to express my thoughts and feelings through the majesty of words. So this is how Doogie Howser feels whenever he starts a new journal entry.

So life has handed me lemons and I'm trying to make lemonade. However, I haven't been thirsty lately. This blog is my attempt to motivate myself when times get rough. Here is a little video snack that always leaves me satisfied.  It's called the Abby Dance. =)
From left to right: Mari, Me, Pablo, and Yesua aka FEARSOME FOURSOME

After graduating, my life has been filled with DAT studying, anxiety attacks about my future, tutoring my 3rd grade kids, and a turbulent love life. Hopefully 2009 will grant me a few breaks. What I am looking forward to this year is the Yoga Class me and Mari might enroll in. Sorry this was such a short entry. I still need to get use to expressing myself hah.
